Tania Azevedo

Plastic artist from Bahia, dedicated to primitivist painting where she has stood out as a Naive painter with works cataloged and reconstructed in Brazil and in several countries. His paixão by the arts began in adolescence when he joined theater groups.
Then, after some years, he discovered painting when he participated in a free course in the studio of the plastic artist and writer Joswilton Lima from Bahia.
Tania Azevedo is a pictorial chronicler of the simple and beautiful life of the rural communities of Bahia and the urban favelas of Salvador, where people face part of landscapes with lively and brilliant cores of naive art representing a naive, free and miscigenated world. It shows the joy of the characters that populate their paintings and gives us a glimpse of a world that we would like to experience for all of us.
Their jobs are happy, colorful, appreciative, demonstrating an idealized vision of nature as people are happy doing their daily tasks or participating in celebrations, despite the apparent disorderly manner of the primitivist style.
The structure of his work is formed from the meeting of some plastic styles. In each painting, at first glance, we can determine it as naive art because of its lively, striking, joyful and meticulously described cores. But, at the same time, we can see it as primitivist art, because it is painted in a naive, instinctive way, with the apparent absence of academic techniques. This combination of forms in painting reflects the fact that naive art is a style of painting derived from primitivist art, where the authentic and ingenuous way of painting without knowledge of techniques is learned in naive art through cores, strokes and some knowledge. do academia. Despite this mixed style, the predominant characteristic of his work is, in reality, naive art. Their paintings are elaborated, thought out, worked as they wish to seduce, show what they desire through their inspiration and invite the spectator to participate in their dream world.
As his work, the artist tries to disseminate his state and his native country, showing his fresh, lively core, its happy people, contradicting a contemporary world that is increasingly industrialized, cinzened and impessoal.
