Cristiano Ignoto

Cristiano Alves, known as “Ignoto” was born in 1982 in the city of São Paulo. His art colors walls around the world. His style is freehand, work done freehand, where the artist is not tied to templates. His interest in art arose when he reproduced drawings he saw on television or magazines he collected.

He entered the world of graffiti in 1996, making simple “Throw ups” lyrics. And then he threw his characters to the city walls, earning their well-deserved space and recognition. In 2008 he created his character “Azulão”, the main figure of his graffiti, gaining national and international recognition, exhibiting his art in several countries.
From the point of view of our criticism, his art speaks.

“Visual arts are an expression that provides a deep vision of the world that permeates the creative process of each artist. The value of a work, both in the cultural sense and in terms of recognition by society, depends on the ways in which each creator relates to the public.
Ignoto's work stands the test of time because it destabilizes those who see it.
If there are creators who are quickly identified by the system and acclaimed by it, their creation evokes a slower and more gradual identification, mainly due to the intense color and subtle movement. Consequently, his works of art stimulate and expand perceptions about the world.

His character, with a blue frame on his head, has the express intention of communicating with others. This is not a trivial image. On the contrary, it escapes simplistic frameworks and places a potential for transformation at the center of the scene, literally a distance from limited and closed squares.

Ignoto's artwork is a permanent invitation to metamorphosis. When observing his creations, an immediate desire arises to immerse oneself in a dreamlike environment. His work is full of impact and theatricality, since the expressions in the eyes of his protagonist generate different feelings, especially empathy.” Says Oscar D'Ambrosio.

Ignoto has a permanent presence in large galleries and collections in countries such as France, Australia, Portugal, the United States, Israel, Italy, Ecuador and others.
